Sites

The following sites, all in Rice County, all within the Canon River Watershed, are the ones I have frequented and where most of the photos of this site were taken, beginning with the nearest and then ranging farther afield. The links are to official websites, when they exist.

1. St Olaf Natural Lands

41 recorded species • This site, surrounding the campus of St Olaf College, is composed of restored wetlands with permanent and temporary ponds set among restored prairie and hardwood forest. The species list is dominated by pond species and temporary pond species and supplemented by migrant species and a few of the river species that reside in the Cannon River about a mile away. Lashbrook City Park borders the natural lands on the east.

48 recorded species • This site is defined by the Cannon River, its floodplain ponds, restored prairies, the twin Lyman Lakes, and the small tributary Spring Creek.
